Isopogon anemonifolius
Isopogon is a genus of about 25 species of flowering plants in the family Proteaceae, native to Australia. They are shrubs or small trees with rigid, usually compound, rarely simple leaves. The flowers are bisexual and arranged in a dense spike or "cone". The fruit is a small, hairy nut.
Uses
Isopogon species are cultivated as ornamental plants for their attractive foliage and flowers. Some species are also used in traditional medicine.
Growing and Care Instructions
Isopogon species are generally easy to grow in well-drained soil in a sunny position. They are drought-tolerant and require little watering once established. Prune them lightly after flowering to maintain their shape.
Height
Isopogon species vary in height, depending on the species. Some species are as small as 30 cm tall, while others can grow to 3 meters or more.
Examples of Isopogon Species
- Isopogon anemonifolius: This species has attractive, divided leaves and pale yellow flowers.
- Isopogon formosus: This species has showy, rose-pink to pale pink flowers.
- Isopogon fletcheri: This species has creamy yellow flowers and is a good choice for coastal areas.
