Cinnamon Myrtle
Introducing our Cinnamon Myrtle, a warming spice from Australia's eastern rainforests in a convenient ground-leaf form. Cinnamon Myrtle (Backhousia myrtifolia) is native to the rainforests and moist gullies of the east coast, growing naturally from southern New South Wales up to south-east Queensland. Its soft, aromatic leaves carry a gentle spice that brings a comforting, distinctly Australian warmth to your kitchen.
Flavour Notes Cinnamon Myrtle offers a mellow, sweet cinnamon flavour with hints of nutmeg and clove. Earthy, woody undertones and a light herbal freshness linger on the finish, making it softer and more subtle than traditional cinnamon.
Uses This versatile, all-natural ingredient adds warmth to both sweet and savoury dishes. Use it in cakes, muffins, biscuits and pastries, infuse it into milk, custard or syrups, or steep it as a soothing caffeine-free tea. It pairs especially well with apple, pear, pumpkin, chocolate and honey, and adds gentle spice to curries, slow-cooked meats and spiced drinks.
